Refund Policy
Last Updated: October 03, 20261. Scope and Purpose
This policy sets out BASMAH’s approach to donation refunds, ensuring transparency, fairness, and consistency in line with donor intent and legal compliance.2. Requesting a Refund
If you believe a contribution was made in error, or you wish to request a refund, please contact BASMAH at donorcare@backup1.basmah.org or +1 (561) 945-3313 as soon as possible. Please include your name, the date and amount of the donation, and any transaction reference number, so we can review your request promptly.3. Refund Eligibility
Refunds may be considered where:- The donation was made unintentionally or in error
- There was an error in the donation amount
- The donor believes the contribution does not align with their stated intent
4. Restricted Gifts
- If a donor designates a gift for a specific program (for example, orphan sponsorship, Zakat, or Qurbani) and that program is already fully funded, BASMAH may, with the donor’s approval, reallocate the gift to a similar mission-aligned initiative.
- If reallocation is not acceptable to the donor, the refund request will be reviewed in accordance with this policy.
5. Recurring Donations
Donors may request to modify or cancel a recurring donation at any time by contacting BASMAH. Cancellation stops future payments; previously processed payments are handled under this policy.6. Review Process and Timeline
- Refund requests are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
- Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method and typically take up to thirty (30) calendar days from the date of approval to process.
- If a request is denied, we will provide the reasons in writing and, where possible, suggest alternative resolutions, such as reallocation aligned with donor intent.
7. Non-Refundable Contributions
- Processing fees or transaction charges applied by third-party payment platforms are non-refundable.
- Contributions designated as non-refundable in the terms of a specific campaign or purchase (for example, certain event tickets or merchandise) are not eligible for refund except as stated in those terms.
8. Tax and Legal Considerations
- A refund may affect any tax receipt previously issued. Donors should retain documentation of any amended contribution.
- Please consult your tax advisor regarding the implications of a refunded amount.
9. Communication and Appeals
- Every denial of a refund request is accompanied by a written explanation.
- Donors may follow up on or appeal a decision through the same contact channels.
10. Policy Review and Updates
BASMAH reviews this policy periodically to ensure it remains consistent with legal requirements and best practices. The most current version is always available on our website and donation platforms.Donation Policy
Last Updated: October 03, 20261. Purpose and Use of Donations
Donations received by BASMAH are used exclusively for charitable activities aligned with our mission: providing food, clean water, medical care, education, and shelter to Rohingya refugees, orphans, and other vulnerable communities. We are committed to directing funds to high-impact programs while keeping administrative costs responsible and reasonable.2. Tax-Deductibility and Receipts
BASMAH is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN: 82-1670588). Eligible U.S. donors will receive an IRS-compliant receipt. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. Where a donor receives goods or services in exchange for a contribution (for example, an event ticket), only the amount exceeding the fair market value of what was received is deductible. Donors outside the United States should consult local rules, as deductibility varies by jurisdiction. Please consult your tax advisor with any questions.3. Donation Acceptance
We gratefully accept cash, online payments (credit and debit), in-kind gifts, and recurring gifts. BASMAH follows all government and legal rules, specifically ensuring that no donation money comes from or goes to blacklisted individuals, restricted regions, or illegal organizations. We reserve the right to decline or return any donation that is designated for purposes outside our mission, that imposes undue burdens or restrictions on its use, or that cannot be accepted in compliance with applicable law.4. Restricted and Unrestricted Gifts
When you designate your gift for a particular program (for example, Zakat, Sadaqah, Qurbani, or educational sponsorship), we use it for that purpose. Gifts with no designation are used where the need is greatest. If a designated program becomes fully funded, we reserve the right to redirect funds to another mission-aligned, high-priority program, seeking donor approval where feasible, consistent with our Refund Policy.5. Refunds and Corrections
Donors who believe a donation was made in error, or who wish to request a refund, may contact BASMAH at donorcare@backup1.basmah.org or +1 (561) 945-3313. Refund decisions are made case by case, consistent with donor intent, applicable tax regulations, and our Refund Policy.6. Financial Stewardship and Accountability
- Program Efficiency: BASMAH strives to keep fundraising and administrative costs low and to dedicate the vast majority of donations to direct charitable services.
- Transparency: We make our annual financial statements and IRS Form 990 available on our website or upon request.
- Oversight: Depending on annual revenue thresholds, our finances are subject to an independent external audit or CPA review to ensure compliance and integrity.
7. Zakat, Sadaqah, and Qurbani
In keeping with Islamic principles, BASMAH ensures that Zakat contributions are distributed in accordance with Shariah guidelines, only to eligible recipients, and without undue delay. Our online and offline donation pages clearly distinguish between Zakat, Sadaqah, and Qurbani giving options, and Zakat-specific reporting is available to donors on request.8. Donor Privacy
Donor information is treated as confidential. We do not sell or rent personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for marketing purposes. Payment information is processed by third-party payment processors and is not stored on BASMAH servers. Please see our Privacy Policy for full details.9. Communications and Donor Engagement
Donors may receive donation receipts, program impact updates, newsletters, and fundraising communications. You may opt out of non-essential communications at any time; we will continue to send transactional messages, such as receipts and responses to your inquiries.Contact Us
